History

  • 1894. AB Per Perssons Väf- och Stickmaskiner was founded in Stockholm. Manufacturing of weaving and knitting machines was started.
  • 1939. Per Perssons starts the production of propeller shafts for military vehicles.
  • 1962. Birfield Ltd. in UK buys Per Perssons. The weaving and knitting production is stopped.
  • 1966. GKN takes over Birfields and Per Perssons changes its name to Nordiska Kardan AB.
  • 1973. Nordiska Kardan moves from Stockholm, to a new built factory in Åmål.
  • 1988. GKN Cardantec International GmbH is founded.
  • 1994. GKN Cardantec is incorporated in GKN Automotive Driveline Divison, ADD.
  • 1996. GKN Nordiska Kardan production plant enlarged by 2000 sq meters. Total floor area 9000 sq meters.
  • 1998. The new shaft GKN Compact 2000 was put in production, replacing the old Nordiska Kardan design.
  • 2000. GKN Nordiska Kardan was acquired by DANA Corporation. The company was named Spicer Nordiska Kardan AB.
